The certification of biological products plays a key role in guaranteeing their sustainability and traceability. However, current certification chains are often not fully adapted to reflect the characteristics of these products and value chains. Today, most biological resources end up in low value-added markets due to certification systems that do not adequately address fundamental aspects such as origin, environmental impacts, or the socioeconomic implications of biological raw materials.
